Just like my colleagues, I do software localizations and translations. I usually receive requests for translations from Russian and English into French; I also translate form Italian into French and from French into Russian, English and Italian.
A peculiar feature of the French nation is their intolerance to anglicisms, even in the sphere of computer technologies, so don't be surprised if I translate some words that other translators would have left unchanged. The French have come up with equivalents to almost every IT term, as this nation is focused on language purity. Nonetheless, if you have questions, I will be glad to answer them and explain specific cases of usage. As the French language is one of the "longest" Western European languages, especially compared with English, I always try to calculate the number of characters to help the developer plan the length of button captions and table widths. Brevity also comes with experience.
